Storage, Updates and Backup Guide

Website Storage Requirements
Most basic websites start with under 2GB of storage. However, storage needs vary significantly depending on the type of website and its content.

Storage Breakdown by Website Type:

• Small websites (business sites, portfolios, simple blogs): Typically 500MB – 2GB
• eCommerce websites: Often start at 2GB+ due to product images, customer data, and transactions
• Media-heavy sites (photography, large blogs, forums, news sites): Frequently exceed 5GB – 10GB+
• Enterprise & large-scale websites: May require 10GB – 100GB+ depending on traffic, content, and database size

Storage includes all website files, media, the full database, and all backups, in addition to email storage.  As websites grow, so do their storage needs, making it essential to plan for scalability.

The Importance of Updates

Please note; ALL WordPress websites MUST avail of an updates plan. WordPress sites on shared hosting are prime targets for hackers. Outdated plugins, themes, or core files create security risks, slow performance, and compatibility issues. Worse, a security vulnerability on your site could compromise every site on the server. To ensure security, stability, and compliance, an updates plan is obligatory; protecting your site, data, and hosting environment. Stay secure, stay updated!

Monthly Updates are included as standard with your chosen package.  More frequent updates can be discussed, however will incur an additional fee.

The Importance of Backups
Backups are your safety net against data loss, hacks, or accidental changes. Whether your website rarely changes or has daily updates, having a reliable backup plan is essential. Static websites with no changing content already have a full backup from the original install, with any additional changes backed up on demand. In contrast, an active site with frequent updates, transactions, or user interactions should have daily backups to prevent data loss. Regular backups ensure you can restore your site quickly and minimize downtime in case of unexpected issues. Don’t wait until it’s too late—secure your data with a proper backup strategy!

Backups are included in the first year  based on package purchased, with future backups subject to the pricing guide below.

General Pricing

Re-installation Fee:                                                                           €80 per hour

• Re-Installation shall be limited to the last available back-up.
• In the event of Website failure, corruption or deletion arising from Owner negligence, action or inaction (including but not limited to failure to update core files), a re-installation fee shall apply.
• This does not extend to server failure or other technological conditions outside the Owner’s control.
• Our Hosting providers guarantee a 99% up time.
• We currently use HostGator as our preferred Hosting Provider.

Administration fee:                                                                           €25

An administration fee applies to all single transactions.

Non-Contracted Support:

• We will provide ongoing email and phone support related to matters concerning contracted work already carried out.
• We are also happy to help in matters not related to contracted work.
• Such calls or emails shall, however, be subject to a fair usage policy.
• If it is deemed that this policy is being overly abused then said calls and emails shall be treated as a new body of work and subject to our standard hourly billable rates.
• Email/phone correspondence or queries outside of pre-contracted work is billable at the rate of €80 per hour with a minimum charge of €10 per email/phone request/correspondence processed.
• For Owners who require considerable content changes/additions or for those who wish to avail of faster turn around times on contract completion we also have available two Service Retention Plans which also offer discounted rates for Site Maintenance, Security, SEO or Content/Product updates.

Service Retention Plans

BILLABLE TIME PACKAGES

• Once billing is applied, for Clients with a service retention contract a minimum charge period of 15 minutes applies, incremental in 15 minute periods.
• For all other contracts our minimum billing period is one hour, incremental in one hour packages.
• Unused development time included in monthly allocation does not carry over into next billing period.

Renewals

* NB: Important Information

DOMAIN NAMES

If you have registered your name and chosen to have it managed through this account, we wish to advise you that there is a 12-day grace period following your domain renewal date in which you may still redeem your domain name.

Your website and/or email services associated with the domain name(s) may stop working during this period.

If you do not renew your domain(s) within this grace time, your domain will be parked by the hosting provider for a 30-day period and will incur a redemption fee (currently €98.40) in addition to the domain renewal fee (applied by the hosting company and of which we have no control).

During this time, the domain name(s) will be moved to parked nameservers and any website and/or email services associated with the domain name(s) will stop working.

If domain names have not been renewed within this redemption period, they will be released back to the public domain.

From this point you will not be able to recover emails or other products associated with the domain name.

There is no guarantee that your domain name will be available to you should you decide to re-register at this point.

HOSTING PLANS

Hosting plan(s) not renewed within 7 days of expiration date will automatically be permanently and irreversibly deleted by the hosting provider (applied by the hosting company and of which we have no control).

NB***  You will lose all data!

To insure the continuity and integrity of your website you may wish to consider one of our back-up and recovery packages.

GOOD WILL RENEWALS

• Unfortunately we are not in a position to renew, as an act of ‘Good Will’, Domain names or Hosting accounts which fall into arrears on behalf of clients.
• All payments must be received in full prior to renewal.

WEB SITE DEVELOPMENT

1^st Year’s .com, .org or .info Domain Registration (other TLD’s may incur additional charges)

 Custom Themes / Additional Page Templates

• From €80 for a single Template Theme.
• Premium / Commercially available themes charged at market rate applicable to that product plus installation and configuration fees.

(Please Note that depending on Theme complexity, configuration fees vary greatly)

Installation and configuration rates are charged at applicable billing rates.

Hours Of Operation

Unless otherwise specified or in the event of an emergency related to an existing contract, no work will be carried out and no correspondence will be entered into on Sundays or Catholic Religious Holidays.  In the event of personal holidays being taken, all existing clients will be notified in advance.

If you urgently require a new contract, or work carried out in respect of non-contracted work during these times our standard billing rates will apply with an additional charge of €30 per hour for outside hours assistance, irrespective of Service Retention Contract.  Technical Support in relation to existing contracted work will still be honoured.

We operate an hourly rate of €80 per hour or part thereof.  Clients with a service retention contract can avail of a reduced rate of €50 per hour.

For minor updates and upgrades for clients with a service retention contract, a minimum billing period of 15 minutes applies, incremental in 15 minute periods.  For all other contracts our minimum billing period is one hour, incremental in one hour packages.

** Turnaround time is calculated from the time all Graphics, Textual or other supporting content required and necessary for the completion of contract have been received.  Please refer to Terms of Service.

Extensive content formatting may take longer than 48 hours.

SMALL PRINT

All Domain Names & Hosting Plans registered through the Developer shall remain the sole property of the Developer until paid in full.

A minimum deposit of €300 or 50% of contract price, whichever is greater (unless otherwise specified) is required before any work is undertaken.  The balance will be payable on completion of contract. 

Premium plugins, Add-ons, Themes or other features must be paid for in full in advance of installation.

Sites will be available to view through a password protected area until such time as contract is signed off.  At this point it will be released and published for public access.

There will be a 30 day period after publication in which minor updates and tweaks may be made, after which time any changes will be considered a new body of work and subject to applicable billing rates.

[3] Content refers to all textual, graphic and photographic content, in addition to any external links and reference materials.

[4] Website refers to the Design, Code, URL, Hosting and any associated resources used in the development of the end product.

[5] If availing of a Managed Wordpress Hosting option, the Developer will commit to the regular updating and smooth running of the Website’s core files and plugins as pertinent to the subscribed hosting plan.

[6] Development time is time actually spent implementing any requested work.

[7] Turn Around time is calculated from the time all Graphics, Textual or other supporting content required and necessary for the completion of contract have been received.
